About Chargewise
What is Chargewise?
An app on your phone that helps you pace. It reminds you to rest at the times you choose, and lets you log how you are.
Each morning it suggests a colour (green, amber or red) from yesterday and your check-ins; a Garmin watch adds your night and yesterday's heart rate.
Does Chargewise tell me what to do?
No. It isn't a medical device and gives no medical advice. The colour and the figures behind it are information; you decide what to do with them. Tap Why? to see what set the colour.
Chargewise is an informational lifestyle pacing tool intended solely to support personal habit management under the direction of your healthcare provider. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice.
Is Chargewise easy to use when I'm fatigued?
That's what it's built for. We've thoroughly reviewed the app to make it as easy as possible to use when you're fatigued.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Chargewise is free.
Who can use it?
Anyone aged 18 or over.
Do I need a Garmin watch?
No. Reminders, check-ins and logging work without one.
A watch adds your night (overnight heart rate, HRV and Body Battery) and yesterday's heart rate to the morning colour, and a count of minutes above your heart-rate limit. The Garmin watch page has more.
Can I use an iPhone?
Yes. Open app.chargewiseapp.net in Safari and sign in. Then add Chargewise to your Home Screen from Safari's Share button, and open it from the new icon.
Turn on notifications in the app opened from that icon. On an iPhone, notifications have no buttons: tap one to open Chargewise, then answer it on Today.
It's a bad day. What do I do with the reminders?
Leave or skip the ones you don't want; nothing goes wrong.
The Rest blocks switch on Today turns rest blocks off for now. Pause reminders in Settings stops one reminder, or all of them, for a while.
Internet and connections
Do I need internet?
For most things, yes, at least now and then.
- Reminders come from Chargewise's server to your phone, so your phone needs a connection for them to arrive on time.
- Logging without a connection works. The entry is kept on your phone and sends by itself once the app is open and connected again.
- The app opens without a connection, because your phone keeps a copy of it.
- The watch face works with no phone or internet at all.
When something looks wrong
The sign-in email hasn't come.
Check spam. The link works once, for 15 minutes; if it ran out, ask for a new one.
Reminders aren't arriving.
Check that Settings → Notifications says notifications are on, and tap Send test.
On Android, set your browser's battery use to Unrestricted; otherwise the phone holds notifications back while it's idle.

Your data
Can I stop, or delete everything?
Yes, any time. Settings → Checks → Data lets you export your data or delete your account.
To stop the watch sending, tap Unpair in Settings → Watch.
Who do I contact?
In Settings, the About card at the bottom has Report a problem, which opens an email to support. Please don't put health details in it.
Or email support@chargewiseapp.net.
